Hymen is a thick membranous layer of tissue that encircles the vaginal orifice from the urethral orifice and helps in escape of menstrual blood. That is when the opening becomes narrowed, which makes the next act of intercourse will be difficult. However, this problem will rarely cause problem in the long term.
How fast will I recover?
We best advice to first and foremost follow the post-operative instructions. The healing duration can be decreased by following the strict instructions which will be given by your doctors. When you are recovering, we will request you to avoid any sexual penetration of the vagina until you are ready to destroy the hymen. Most patients can resume work in 2-3 days, but should avoid heavy lifting and dancing that involves a lot of movement. Particularly, you must also not do any horseback riding, cycling and riding on motorcycles.
Will hymen repair be painful?
Patient may feel some kind of discomfort, usually mild pain. Swelling occurs for the first few days of the surgery.Prescribed medication helps in reducing discomfort and also applying the cool compresses can be very helpful in reducing the pain.
