Mid facelift can restore the natural convex shape of the lower eyelid and cheek to correct the puffiness of the lower eyelids, indentation of upper cheek and/or to minimize the look of big eyes. Mid facelift offers a natural and young appearance without an overdone or pulled look. When we age, gravity and fat deflation gives us facial fullness. Our midface area is that one area of which effects can be seen. The midface is basically the area from the lower eyelids to the nasalabial folds, the lines from the nose to the corner of the mouth. With time, mid face loses volume which can make us appear tired or much older then we actually are. Round face and midface cheek projection is the mark of youth and beauty. A midface lift can beautifully restore the youthful contour and three-dimensional projection to the midface area that so many patients desire. There are many techniques for midface lifting and which technique is best for you will depend on various factors such as current facial structure, previous facial surgeries and your aesthetic goals.

There are two types of mid facelift techniques such as:

  • In the conventional technique– surgeon will gain access to the cheeks and lower eyelids by an incision hidden in the lower lash line. Surgeon may also make an incision in the nasalabial fold and it is best suited to patients who need their tissues to be lifted upward, rather than horizontally or diagonally.
  • The other technique also produces more impressive results. In this method, the process is performed through two endoscopic incisions placed in the temples, hidden behind the hairline. Giving the surgeon a pair of access points by which he can lift facial muscles and skin both vertically and diagonally. No matter what technique is used, mid facelift can correct under-eye bags, prominent nasal fold and hollowness in the upper cheeks.

Some surgeons may try to move the nasal furrows and lift up the corners of the lips by pulling them sideways, which results in a pulled, surgical and tight look. The most significant feature of this procedure is that it lifts the cheek tissue vertically. It reverses the effects of gravity, which pulls straight down. Thus, a much more refreshed and young looking appearance is the result.
